Polluted lake china

Finally China is planning to clean up a polluted lake; witch was used by people to dump their waste. It costs more than 14.5 million dollar to clean the lake, witch is polluted for many years. The province thinks that they can bring the water to a better condition and that they can have more control over the polluted lake, within 5 years. The lake is now fully surrounded by factories that are dumping their waste in the lake. More than 70% of the rivers in China are badly polluted according to the latest figures.

My opinion
I think that China has to do more about the polluted lakes, because it will not only have an effect on the people in the area, it is also a danger for people in the whole world. The polluted lake is killing plants and fishes that are living under water. The lake also cause air pollution because when the water gets warm it condenses; this can pollute other parts of China. The factories that dump their waste in the rivers should be punished very hard by big fines. It is ridicules that the factories can dump their waste without being punished by the law or the government.

Be thin to cut cancer

A major international study has claimed that even people how are not overweight should slim of, if they want to cut the risk of cancer. The World Cancer Centre Research Fund carried out the largest research about lifestyle and cancer; they issued several recommendations. One of the recommendations: Adults should not gaining weight, drink alcohol, as sugary drinks, and eat bacon or ham. Everyone has to aim to be as thin as possible without becoming underweight. Cancer is absolutely not a vet, but it is about that people can adjust the risk of cancer.

My opinion
I think that The World Cancer Centre Research Fund did a great job. They informed people to change their lifestyle. Adults are less aware of the risk they have, because they are overweight. Many adults drink alcohol every day without realizing that alcohol increases the risk to get cancer. I knew that alcohol was an unhealthy drink, but I did not know that it increases the risk of getting cancer. I was totally surprised that even sugary drinks are bad, and increase the risk of getting cancer. The government should do more to inform people about cancer, and how to decrease the risk of cancer.

Obesity 'as bad as climate risk'

Obesity is like the climate change a threat to the public health. For the first time the potential risk is clear enough and it is everybody’s interest to change facts. Half of the population could be obese within 25 years according to a government study. The ministers have made a plan for a long term solution to tackle the problem. Furthermore has the government asked “The Food Standards Agency” to investigate the “trans-fats”. The health secretary, Alan Johnson, said that the problem only could be solved if the problem is recognized by every part of the society.

My opinion
I think that the government is waiting to long to tackle the Obesity in the UK. Why should we wait so long to do something? There are too many people who suffer from Obesity. I think that they should immediately set a new standard for the Food Agency, especially for the fast food restaurants. I think that the government is doing a great job by setting a health catering for kids at school. Teaching the kids to eat healthier food and warning them about the danger of Obesity danger is a good start to tackle the problem.

Ahmadinejad steals the show in New York

The Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was invited by an American university to give a speech, on Tuesday. The speech dominated the opening of the meeting and took worldwide attention. Ahmadinejad talked about "prospects for a brighter and more hopeful future, the appearance of the sublime and beauty, compassion and generosity, justice and blossoming of all the God-given human talents, the prominence of faith in God and realization of the promise of God". The President of Iran has also talked about the nuclear case. The university president, Lee Bollinger, had introduced Ahmadinejad as a dictator who seemed to be uneducated. Many people in the US think that de President Ahmadinajad was treated unfriendly and unfairly by the University who invited the President.

My opinion
I think that the University has treated the President unfairly. Inviting a President and insulting him seems to me unfairly. The students were yelling, boe, boe, boe, as a reaction to the speech of the president. The University students’ behaviour was very bad. I also think that if Achmedinagad knew about this behaviour of the students and of the university President, he would not address the speech. The anti Iranian attitude of the US, has also denied the President to visit ground zero. Insulting the president Achmedinajad will not help to bring peace between the countries.

Crossrail gets the green light

The Prime Minister Gordon Brown has given green light to start the building of the railway link through the centre of London. The Construction will start in 2010, and will generate 30.000 jobs. The £16bn railway link will not only generate jobs, but it is also good for London and the whole country. The government is providing a third of the money and the rest made up from borrowed from future fares and a levy on London business rates. Crossrail services have to be finished in about 10 years. Crossrail is not just a transport scheme; it is also the key to the next 20 years of economic development of London."

My opinion
I think that the railway link is a good idea because it will generate a lot of jobs and it is good for the economy. The transport of the railway will also increase; people will get faster and earlier to the other side of London. Gordon Brown has also said that London is preparing for the future. Besides it also will give more structure to the London transport scheme, and it will improve links to Heathrow and the airports. But I understand people who are living nearby the building of the railway are not glad because this will give a lot of noise.

Huge fine for music file-sharer

A woman is ordered to pay 222.000 dollar for illegally file- sharing of music by a court in the US. The fine could have been millions according to the record companies. She downloaded a total of 1702 songs. The first person who decided to fight the court was Ms Thomas; he was accused of illegal file-sharing. The jury ordered Thomas to pay 9250 dollar per song. Each year millions of households use or post illegal files, and the music industry take it as a serious threat to its revenue. However, Ms Thomas must pay if she loses the case.

My opinion
I think that the lady is innocent. I think she was not aware that she was doing something illegal. I think that the possibility of downloading must be declined only to the legal sites, and that only the makers must be punished. Besides, the problem of downloading illegally is a worldwide issue. This will not stop by given a few fines to a small amount of people. I also feel sorry for the music industry to see their revenue getting less. The artiest that are not famous enough to promote themselves have a little chance to survive in the music industry.

Police 'failure' in Menezes death

A planned operation on the suicide bombers at stock well Tube station in London cost the live of Jean Charles de Menezes. The officers mistook Menezes for a suicide bomber. Prosecutor Clare Montgomery said that the death of Menezes was caused by the fact that they carried out an operation in a public place. They planned the operation so bad that there was a risk to kill somebody in the public. The force denies the charge and the trial is expected to last six weeks. Mr Menezes, 27, was shot dead by anti-terrorist police during the biggest manhunt in the force's history.

My opinion
I think that it is a shame that the anti-terrorist police kill an innocent person during a danger operation. The force trains for this sort of situation s, how it is possible that it still goes wrong. I think that the anti terrorist police must be punished like every other individual for murder. Nobody is above the law. The government invested millions into the anti terrorist police to train them so that they work fast and secure as possible. I am also scared that such terrible event could happen to me or to anyone with an Arab look.
